These gorgeous cupcakes were made for a birthday party. They combine elegant pearls and rococo designs in gold and copper with an elegant white backdrop.
25 delicious cupcakes.
Yesterday was Easter Sunday and to celebrate I thought it would be nice to have an Easter egg hunt - or in this case an Easter nest hunt!
I prepared three nests with little chocolates and Red Velvet Cupcakes, which I'd decorated with fondant flowers and fondant Easter eggs.
The hunt was over fairly quickly because we had a lot of people over and not many places to hide but I hope it was still fun!
The England Edition Series refers to Cake Projects I made while in England without my usual Cake supplies.
So this is a very belated Valentine's Day post!
For Valentine's this year I made some chocolate sponge and used a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out little hearts. I then filled two hearts with whipped cream, added some melted milk chocolate on top as well as some more whipped cream and finished it off with some red candy melts.
So, I really wanted to try to incorporate my home made caramel into a cupcake frosting.
Since I'm not a big fan of buttercream I wasn't too sure about this one, but I used about half a cup of vegetable shortening and half a cup of butter with about 1 1/2 - 2 cups of homemade caramel sauce (sugar and milk cooked about an hour and a half).
The consistency was great, I really enjoyed piping on the cupcakes, but taste wise I'm still not sold on buttercream...
This was also my first try at making a buttercream rose...
So I kind of invited myself over to a friend’s place to watch a movie the other day and I felt bad, which meant I had to bake something as an apology.
I chose to make Chocolate Cupcakes and used the batter to make a tiny two tiered Cake as well. I then tried to practise piping techniques a bit with cocoa induced whipped cream.
These are vanilla cupcakes filled and glazed with caramel sauce.
I really wanted to try and make my own caramel so I stood in the kitchen for about 2 hours and made some plus cupcakes to fill.
The sprinkles are already quite Christmas-y, but since Christmas is only a month away I though it acceptable.
The idea for these cupcakes came from my fascination with Gender Identity and Sexuality.
I do believe all kinds of Sexualities and Gender Identities exist, simply because everyone is unique and experiences things differently...
The Sexualities/Gender Identities are from top left to bottom right:
Genderqueer, Demisexual, Skoliosexual, Autochorissexual, Intersex, Genderfluid, Asexual, Homosexual, Transgender, Bisexual, Neutrois, Pansexual
EDIT (19.10.2017): Intersex refers to biological sex but it can be a gender identity as well.
Genderqueer, Genderfluid and Neutrois all fall under the Non-binary umbrella. Binary genders would be woman and man.
Non-binary can fall under the Transgender umbrella, since trans (as opposed to cis) means the person does not identify with the gender assigned to them at birth. Not all transgender people are also non-binary!
Demisexual and Autochorissexual are both part of the Asexuality Spectrum! These cupcakes were part of my coming out (kind of), which is why I included so many asexual identities.
The most common definition for Bisexuality has shifted to a more inclusive definition. Instead of referring to the two binary genders it is now used for 'experiencing sexual attraction to my own gender and other genders'. This definition is very similar to Pansexuality where gender is more or less irrelevant.
Also Sexuality does not equal romantic attraction! Sexual attraction aka Sexuality overlaps with romantic attraction for a lot of people but they are not one and the same. Most of the sexualities listed here can also be applied to romantic attraction e.g.: Aromantic, Biromantic, etc.
Language is constantly evolving so this might be completely wrong in another three years. This info was compiled by me to the best of my ability. I am not an expert! :EDIT (19.10.2017)
